Mobile Takeover: Meta’s Muse Agent Surges Past ChatGPT in Blitz Mobile Launch

Meta’s fresh artificial intelligence app, Muse, is racking up massive mobile numbers across initial adoption metrics. Early analytics from market intelligence firm Apptopia indicate that the mobile client picked up significantly more downloads during its first 12 days than OpenAI’s ChatGPT recorded over an equivalent post-launch timeframe.

Muse is also generating stronger early daily active user activity than ChatGPT did during its early mobile debut. Data focused purely on the United States and Canada shows that Meta’s new application generated roughly 1.8 million iOS downloads in its first 12 days. By comparison, ChatGPT captured 1.3 million iOS installs over its initial 12-day window in those same markets.

Comparing mobile releases directly can be tricky due to contrasting deployment strategies. ChatGPT originally launched as a global release restricted exclusively to iOS. Meta took a broader approach, releasing Muse across both Apple’s App Store and Google Play simultaneously while targeting North American users initially.

To make an accurate side-by-side assessment, Apptopia isolated iOS data across both applications during their respective first 17 days. That matched subset confirms Muse reached 1.8 million regional installs, giving Meta a clear advantage in North America.

Across all active mobile platforms worldwide, Muse hit an estimated 2.8 million total downloads during its initial 12-day run. Growth moved fast after launch, pushing the software up the charts from the second spot overall to number one on the United States App Store.

Daily active user trends point toward strong initial engagement. Apptopia estimates that Muse maintained around 642,000 daily active mobile users in the United States, compared to 231,000 for ChatGPT at the exact same point after its launch. Filtering the view down exclusively to iOS devices keeps Muse ahead, showing 359,000 active daily users on Apple hardware.

These figures come from third-party analytics rather than internal Meta disclosure statements. However, even as conservative general estimates, the data indicates that Meta holds a real opportunity to scale a major standalone product.

Meta built a clear promotional setup when it launched Threads, using existing networks like Instagram and Facebook to drive immediate adoption. Muse is using a similar distribution push. Over 95% of early Muse users also maintain active Facebook accounts, while 63% actively use Instagram.

By routing users directly through its established social networks and messaging platforms, Meta is converting existing social audiences into daily users for its new autonomous software.
